The NTHA will reimburse members fifty percent toward the cost of Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) courses they attend with proof of completion.
In addition to a scholarships for post-secondary students in forestry, NTHA offers the grants to support members’ expansion efforts and the region’s community organizations interested in educating the public about the importance of the wood industry to the Northern Tier.
Industry Incentive Grant Program - The purpose of this grant is to encourage and provide assistance to individuals/companies pursuing a facility for secondary wood processing, utilization of low grade wood, or expanding/improving existing facilities to increase production and/or efficiency. The grant provides assistance for the actual constructing, surveying, or environmental engineering of the proposed facility. Applicant must be a member at the time of application. Applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors and its decisions are final. Application Form
Education Opportunity Grant - The grant is available to any organization involved in the education of both youth and adults for specific projects relating to forest management in our service area. These can be Woodland Owner Associations, public and private schools, service organizations, and other similar groups. Board of Directors and its decisions are final. Application Form
We provide financial support to local events and programs that help educate our youth about forestry such as the annual Woodland Resources Adventure camp, 4-H Forestry Team, Woodland Owners Conferences, Log a Load – Children’s Miracle Network, and the State Envirothon.
