2009 Northern Tier Hardwood Association Scholarship Winners
Eight deserving area students received $500 scholarship awards from the Northern Tier Hardwood Association in 2009. Winners from Bradford County are Brett Pifer and Darren Reilly; from Sullivan County, Adel Gouda and Nicholas Wilkins; from Susquehanna County, Sarah Bradley, Michael Oakley, Alexander Paschuk, and Anthony Juser.
Mr. Reilly is a Junior at Clarion University; Mr. Pifer and Mr. Gouda are attending PSU. Ms. Bradley, Mr. Oakley, and Mr. Pashuk attended Mountain View High School and are highly motivated graduating seniors going to college in the fall. Mr. Juser, President of the National Honor Society at Elk Lake High School, was also selected as his school’s Scholar of the Year. Mr. Wilkins graduated from Sullivan County High School while being dually enrolled in courses at Penn Tech and Keystone College. All winners are very deserving, hard working students and the NTHA is very proud to award them scholarships in their chosen fields.
The Northern Tier Hardwood Association is made up of local businesses and organizations interested in improving and promoting the forest industry. Their mission is to promote long-term economic development in the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania through intelligent forest management, careful expansion of secondary wood processing, improved manufacturing methods, and regional hardwood promotion.
